It definitely requires lots of knowledge and dedication to build six-pack abs, and it does not happen overnight. However, it can be a lot easier than one might think. It is based on a perfect coordination of diet and exercise, and when done right, can happen for some trainers in as little as six weeks. It is important for anyone who wants to achieve this goal to know some of the best six-pack abs workout moves first.

You will need:

Large stability ball

Small, soft workout ball

Step 1: Although athletes and trainers might not want to hear it, the first step to getting six-pack abs is forming a proper diet. Start the workout regimen on the best possible intake. This means avoiding saturated fats, taking in lots of protein to build muscle, eating whole grains and no white flour products, and concentrating on getting in monounsaturated fats. This will make the rest of the steps to build six-pack abs much more effective.

Step 2: Lie on the floor and place the small workout ball underneath the lower back. Then, assume the rest of the position for a standard sit-up.

Step 3: Perform a standard sit-up. These are crucial for anyone who wants to build six-pack abs. Lie back as far as possible with feet on the floor and the ball beneath the lower back. Utilize the abdominal muscles for stability. Then, use the abs to draw in the muscles and sit the upper body all the way up into a sitting position.

Step 4: Slowly lower all the way back down in a controlled motion and repeat. In order to build six-pack abs, this move should be done fifty to a hundred times per workout.

Step 5: Do a plank on the large stability ball. This is executed by laying face-down on the stability ball, with the stomach making contact with the ball. Then, straighten the legs and support the body with only the balls of the feet. Rest the elbows in an “L” position on the ball, and hold for as long as possible – ideally, twenty to sixty seconds. Take a moment to rest and repeat eight to twelve times to build six-pack abs.

Step 6: Execute a few sets of reverse crunches, a great six-pack abs workout. This is done lying on the back with the arms along the sides of the body and knees bent. Hold a small workout ball between the knees with a firm grip. Try to touch the ball to the chest by using the abs to bring the knees inward. Hold the contraction and release back to the start position. To use this workout to build six-pack abs, do twelve to sixteen reps with each workout.

Step 7: Finally, do stability ball tucks with each workout for six-pack abs. To do so, assume a plank position with hands below the shoulders flat on the floor, but instead of the balls of the feet resting on the ground, place a large stability ball beneath the shins so that the legs are on an incline. Then, try to roll the ball forward to draw the knees into the chest. Use the abdominal muscles for stability, and you will be able to build six-pack abs in no time.

Most people wonder how others they see have achieved the ultimate physique. The truth is, it takes a lot of hard work and effort as well as dedication. In order to have a good body, you must have a flat belly. What is important with a flat belly is using the right exercises for six pack abs.

As for crunches, you should be lying flat on the floor, preferably with a mat provide more comfort. You should cross your arms in front of your chest or place your fists directly under your chin. Placing your arms behind your head may result in hurting your back.

The most important part of doing your crunches is the flexing of the abdominal section when you lift yourself upwards. When doing these exercises, you must read properly. Therefore, inhale through the nose when you are going down and exhale through the mouth when you’re lifting up. Without the breathing or the flexing, the results will not be as good.

Sit ups are similar to crunches except you’re going all the way up. The breathing and the flexing are just as above. Once you become comfortable and able to do several sit ups, you could make it more challenging. Using an incline bench or an exercise ball could fill that bill. Furthermore, you can also use weights positioned on the chest to make your sit ups more difficult and help you to work the abdominal muscles even more.

Leg lifts are also important with trying to achieve six pack abs. These will actually work other muscles than the ones that you are working on with crunches and sit ups. There are several types of leg lifts that you can work on in order to build up individual muscles in the adoptable region.

The key to achieving six pack abs is diversity. Simply doing crunches or sit ups or any one but it will not help you achieve your goal. You will also benefit from doing jackknife sit ups, V-ups, peddling in the air while doing crunches, and many more.

At some point, you’ll have to start working on the obliques as well. These are the actual muscles that are positioned on either side of your stomach. Doing side crunches will help to work on these particular muscles. Addressing these muscle groups will be the finishing touches on your perfect abs.

However, in addition to exercising the target muscles, you should start lifting weights. Lifting weights helps your body to burn more calories. In fact, the body continues to burn calories and fat and after you finished your weightlifting exercises. But, you need to eat less calories than you actually are burning. Because, the bottom line is, you are six pack abs and all your other muscles will not show if they are covered by a layer of fat. To help you achieve better results, try to incorporate some other types of exercises into your routine. A combination of all these exercises will help you to ultimately get the abs you want.

Are you working yourself into a sweat doing a gazillion abdominal crunches and still not seeing that elusive six-pack? The way you’re training may be the problem. Some people assume if abdominal crunches are good, the more they do the better. If you’re trying to build ab definition, this isn’t the way to do it.

Are You Doing Too Many Abdominal Reps?

Abdominal muscles are like any other muscle in your body. When you’re trying to build ab strength and definition, you’ll get the most benefits from doing 10 to 12 reps with focus and added resistance. To add resistance, reduce the speed of each repetition so you’re not using momentum to propel your body up, and really focus on crunching slowly up and down. When you do an abdominal crunch like this, you’ll feel the difference immediately.

Once you can do abdominal crunches in a slow, controlled manner, add additional resistance by holding a dumbbell in your hands when you crunch. Increasing the resistance and doing 12 reps in a slow, controlled manner will give better results than doing 100 fast, unfocused crunches. A higher number of reps builds endurance not abdominal definition. You can also add resistance by doing abdominal crunches on a slant board so your head is lower than your feet. However you do them, the last repetition should be difficult if you’re working your abs hard enough.

Beyond Abdominal Crunches

You’ll need to do more than crunches to build beautiful abs. Focus on exercises that target the upper abs, lower abs, obliques and back muscles. Do them in the same slow, controlled manner with no more than 12 repetitions of each exercise. Three sets of each exercise should be enough to fatigue the abdominal muscles. Quality not quantity is what counts when it comes to building abdominal strength and definition.

If you’re working towards six-pack abs, abdominal strength exercises are only part of the equation. If you have a layer of fat covering your well-toned abs, you’ll never see them. That’s where fat-burning high-intensity cardio and a healthy diet come into play. You need to melt away that layer of fat to see what’s underneath. High-intensity workouts are better for blasting away stubborn abdominal fat than steady-state cardio.

Cardiovascular exercise is one way to burn off stubborn abdominal fat, but resistance exercises that target multiple muscle groups, particularly those in the lower extremities burn fat too. They also strengthen the abdominal muscles since you contract your abs while you’re doing them. Good compound exercises are weighted squats, lunges, deadlifts and push-ups. You get the added benefit of strengthening other muscles as well when you do these exercises.

The final part of the equation for building abdominal definition is dietary. You can’t build definition and blast away abdominal fat if you’re eating a diet of processed carbs and empty calories. Switch those processed carbs for vegetables and whole grains, and eat a small amount of lean protein with every meal. Most people need around 0.8 milligrams of protein per kilogram of body weight, but if you’re training hard you may need up to 1.2 milligrams. More protein than this won’t make your abs more defined. Like carbs and fat, protein can be stored as body fat if you overdo it.

The Bottom Line?

If you’re not seeing ab definition, stop focusing on the quantity of ab reps you’re doing. Cut back on the number you do and really isolate the abdominal muscles. Don’t be afraid to add resistance to get your abdominals ripped. Lastly, burn away abdominal fat with high-intensity exercise and a clean diet. When you do these things, you should see results.

Exercising with an Ab Machine is a good step to get firm and healthy body. The ab roller and the ab crunch machine are two of the most popular ab machines available. These machines have advantages and disadvantages, and you should be sure to learn about them before investing.

The ab roller really is a basic piece of equipment. It looks like a dumbbell, but it is round and pretty light. When you use the ab roller, you put both hands on the roller while you are on the floor on your knees. Then you roll outward as far as you can without letting your body touch the ground. Once you are out as far as you can go, then you bring yourself back in and repeat the exercise. The key is not to extend farther than you can roll yourself back in.

The advantage of the ab roller is that it is handy. The equipment is light and easy to take with you so that if you travel, you can use the ab roller while you are out without much problem. The ab roller also is simple to learn to use, meaning you are probably more likely to use it than something difficult. The downside of the ab roller is that you cannot add much resistance to it, indicating that you can tap out its potential pretty early in your workout career.

The ab crunch machine is more complex and provides for a bit more in an ab workout. The machine looks scary but really is just a seat with handles. The handles are attached to cables, and you can adjust the amount of weight on the cables. Exercising with this ab machine is fairly simple to learn. Once you have the right weight resistance, you just pull the handles forward and do a crunch sitting up. The machine provides the resistance and also protects your back somewhat.

Working out with the ab crunch machine can provide extra resistance, which helps you build up your muscles. On the other hand, the machine works only for this one exercise. Still if you are looking for a good basic ab workout, trying the ab roller or the ab crunch machine should be a good place to start. These machines can get you in good shape before you want to expand your workout to more complicated machines and moves.

Exercise balls are fun and simple, but they add an edge to a workout. The most basic ab routines to do with an exercise ball are a basic crunch and a medicine ball crunch.

A regular crunch will require the use of a larger inflatable exercise ball. These balls are bouncy, and they are used often in low-impact aerobics classes. To do a crunch on them requires more balance than a regular crunch and helps build up your thigh and ab muscles. Put the ball firmly on the ground and then sit on it. Make sure the ball isn’t moving before you lie back.

Your feet will stay on the ground, and you can do a crunch on the ball. Do not try to do as many reps with the exercise ball crunch as you do with regular crunches. Because you will be working on your balance, you will not need to do as many crunches to get a great workout.

The second basic way to work your abs with an exercise ball is to use a medicine ball. These balls are smaller, but they look the same as the large exercise balls. Some medicine balls are tightly inflated, but others are hard.

To do a crunch with a medicine ball, simply do a traditional crunch. Instead of putting your hands behind your head and pulling forward, hold the medicine ball in your hands. As you come up into the crunch, twist your torso slowly to the left. On the next crunch, twist your torso to the right. By doing that, you can build up the muscles along the sides of the abdominal wall.

Once you have mastered working your abs with an exercise ball with these basic routines, you can begin to branch out. Try doing standing crunches and holding the ball against you. Though it may be simple at first, you will discover that your muscles will need to work harder as you try to balance the ball on your midsection.

You also can try doing a reverse crunch on the large exercise ball. You will need excellent balance, as you will have to hold yourself up with your hands. However, if you can pull them off, these exercises are a great way to add a bit of variety to your ab workout.
